  • Welcome Newcomers

This is the PRE PTSA website. Do not confuse it with the Pittsford Central School District Website. They are maintained independently, although they do share ideas and link to each other. The District PTSA website and the PRE PTSA website are maintained by the Pittsford PTSA volunteers and provide information about PTSA sponsored programs, as well as helpful information about our school. The District website is maintained by District employees and focuses on district information. • Room Parents/Room Reps
Each classroom has a volunteer room parent (or two) who is the communication liaison between the teacher and the parents in the class, as well as PRE PTSA and the parents in the class.
  • Volunteer Opportunities
Occasionally, there may be opportunities to volunteer in your child's classroom. This is class specific and depends on the grade level and teacher. Contact your room parent for more information. There are also opportunities to volunteer for PTSA-sponsored events and programs. Read the Park Road Particulars (our PRE PTSA e-news) and check your Infinite Campus emails to learn more about these opportunities.
  • Pick Up and Drop Off
Parents/guardians are required to sign their children into and out of the building at the front desk if they did not arrive by bus. Park your car in the parking lot and enter through the main doors of the school. Do NOT park in the bus loop. 4th and 5th graders are allowed to walk to and from school, if they have a permission slip on file with the school main office. Note: morning announcements start at 8:40am; if your child arrives at school after 8:40am, they will be considered late for school.
  • School Lunches
As a result of New York State offering Universal School Meals, Park Road Elementary School is excited to offer one free breakfast and one free lunch daily to all elementary school students, regardless of income. Note: this does not include a la carte items or second meals. To learn more about this opportunity, visit Pittsford Central School District's Food Service page. All children in the school will receive 1 Breakfast and 1 Lunch meal at no charge regardless of household income or completion of the Free and Reduced Price Schools Form. Although, Pittsford now offers free meals to our elementary students, we still ask that families complete the free and reduced lunch application and submit it to the District. The District relies on completed applications for the purpose of New York State aid. If fewer applications are completed, the District’s state aid could decrease, and we risk not offering the exceptional programs that Pittsford families have come to expect. Pittsford's Food Service Department encourages families to complete the application and submit it to the Director of Food Service, Elena Montgomery, by August 29, 2025 (although they will accept them throughout the course of the school year too). The importance of this completed application is essential for State Aid and will continue to allow the District to offer educational, athletic and extracurricular opportunities for our students. Students can also pack a lunch. Money for a la carte items and second meals can be added to a lunch “debit” card using myschoolbucks.com. These cards are kept at school and handed out before lunch time. To put money on this card, visit the My School Bucks website. Occasionally, the lunch calendar will say "Manager's Choice." Our school lunch manager, Jessica Hafner-Ventura will send an email earlier that week to communicate what has been selected. Note: Parents may not have lunch with their children, although there may be opportunities this year to volunteer in the cafeteria as we navigate our first year in over a decade as part of the National School Lunch Program.
  • PTSA Membership
Pittsford District PTSA is very active in organizing/supporting many programs throughout the district. An adult yearly membership is $20. By joining and paying dues, you are not committing to attending meetings or volunteering for a committee. You are simply helping PTSA raise the money that is used to support many things for our children across the district. Visit the Membership page to see the many programs supported by PTSA. Join PTSA
  • After School Enrichment (ASE)
PRE has an active ASE program. Only PRE students can attend PRE ASE activities. View programs and register on the ASE page.
  • Community
Pittsford has a vibrant community, offering many services and events. The school district, PTSA, and community organizations work collaboratively to offer students extended services and opportunities beyond school. Visit the Partner page links on the PRE or District PTSA website.
  • What are the important PRE phone numbers?
Main Number: 585-267-1500 Heath Office: 585-267-1540 Bus Garage: 585-267-1480 Attendance Line: 585-267-1509 More key contacts are listed here: https://pre.pittsfordschools.org/our-school/pre-key-contacts
  • What time will by child be home on Early Dismissal days?
Refer to the School District Calendar for important dates and times, including early dismissal days. A note will come out from the principal with the dismissal time for those days. If your child rides the bus, it should take your child the same amount of time to get home on the bus as it takes them on a regular day.
  • Who do I contact regarding Special Education Services? Are there any additional parental supports?
Elizabeth Woods is the Director of Special Education and can be reached at 267-1014. SEPTA (Special Education PTA) is a district-wide committee within the Pittsford Central PTSA. SEPTA exists for the benefit of students whose needs and requirements are outside the general education domain. Visit the SEPTA website for more information: https://www.pittsfordschools.org/departments/special-education/septa
  • Is there a Lost and Found?
Lost and Found items can be located on a table or in containers outside of the gym at Park Road and in the district transportation office. The transportation office is located directly across the parking lot from the Mendon Center Elementary main entrance. Items are usually donated right before major breaks (winter/spring and summer vacation) so please check these locations ahead of time if you're missing anything. Please label items so they are reunited more quickly.
  • What is the protocol on teacher's gifts, particularly during the holidays?"
At the end of the year, the room parent/room rep organizes an end of year teacher gift with monetary contributions from families. This is NOT mandatory and it is up to you to decide whether or not you'd like to participate. NYS tax laws state that gifts worth a total of $75 or more received from students have to be reported as extra earnings by the teachers. Over the holidays, some parents choose to send in small gifts to show their appreciation. This is again is voluntary and up to your discretion.
  • Do I have any input as to my child's teacher placement for next year?
In the spring, the building principal sends an email with a link requesting family input regarding placement for the next year. A hard copy form is also attached if that's easier. The purpose of collecting input is to place students within the environment that best suits them. Families can’t request to have (or not have) a specific teacher. Current year teachers also provide feedback to the principal to help make the best choice for each child. A week or two before school starts, families receive a welcome back packet (in 2025, it will come electronically instead of via the mail) with teacher assignment and back to school information.
  • What "specials" do students participate in at school?"
Art, gym, library, computer lab (for younger grades), music, and science (for older grades). Each day your child will have one or more special. Your classroom teacher will send this schedule home early in the school year.
  • What is offered to buy for lunch and how much is it? How do they pay for lunch?
A calendar menu with daily selections is sent home at the beginning of each month and can also be found on the district's Food Service website. This year, Food Service will also roll out a new interactive web-based menu, which will feature nutritional and allergen information as well. Again, while 1 breakfast and 1 lunch is free for all elementary students, regardless of income, this year, a la carte items and second meals need to be purchased. Parents are encouraged to sign up for an online debit card on MySchoolBucks.com. Please contact Park Road's Food Services manager, Jessica Hafner-Ventura, with any questions.
  • Can I get a class list with student contact information?
The room parent puts together and circulates a class friendship list with student contact information. Families can opt out if they do not want to be included.
  • What do I need to do before visiting the school?
All Park Road Elementary School visitors need to register with Visitor Aware. Take a photo and fill out the form for quicker check in for future visits. Anyone entering the school must use the main entrance. All other doors are locked during the school day. Visitors are also required to wear a visitor sticker at all times while in the building.
  • Is there a Back-To-School orientation/summer visit day?
Please refer to the district calendar, which will be available online. A hard copy will also be mailed and specify all orientation/supply drop off days. A school information packet will emailed toward the middle/end of August with details regarding visiting the school/classroom prior to the first day.
  • What does PRE PTSA do?
PRE PTSA supports many important PRE programs, both financially and/or with volunteers. Without our Fun Run fundraiser, your membership dues, and your time, these programs wouldn't be possible. Please visit the Program Directory for more information about our many current programs, activities, and events.
  • Can I bring my children to the school if volunteering for a PTSA program or classroom activity?
No, when you volunteer for a PTSA or school activity or program, other children are not allowed to attend. This is a safety concern that has been mandated by the district and needs to be reinforced.
